I think you should try to apply. You need to shape your CV so that it shows relevant job experience. Remember that you have also had the benefit of being a customer of the registration dept of a university.
You should highlight in a section at the top of your CV your key skills and knowledge. Make sure you include things like; excellent planning and organisation skills, IT skills etc that are relevant to these positions.
