Am I Paying Wholesale Price?
July 2, 2009 by Hanna08
The truth about buying gemstones is that you will never pay wholesale prices no matter what someone on TV says or what gemstone advertisements you see. This is true of all products not just gemstones for sale. Real wholesale companies do not sell to individuals and if they do their prices are higher to protect the retail merchants. Wholesale companies make money by buying and selling in large volumes at low markup. They generally have no interest in selling one stone here and there. That is the business of retailers.
When you buy from jewelry shows or online you generally will be paying retail or low retail prices. Like every other company gemstone dealers need to make a profit in order to stay in business. The biggest advantage of buying from an online gemstone dealer is that they tend to have better quality gemstones than the television shows. They also generally have lower prices for the same quality stone because their overhead is lower than either the retail jewelry stores or the television shows. The reason the TV jewelry shows appear to have great bargains is because the gemstones are often of inferior quality.
How do you find a quality gemstone dealer? You can start with EBay and there are a few good dealers there but it can be risky. A better place to find good gemstone dealers is to search directorygemstones.org. Most of the serious online dealers have their own website although a few also sell on EBay. Many of the dealers shy away from EBay because they have a hard time selling quality stones at a fair price. They believe many of the customers are simply looking for unrealistic bargains rather than searching for high quality gemstones.

Convenience stores sells over 2x the merchandise per square foot that jewelry stores do. ($574 & $1,222) WOW. #entrepreneurship #retail
Actually, back in the 90s there was usually a window between VHS release and availability at Retail Prices or Pay Per View. That window was often touted in advertisements pitching sales to Video Stores and the like, enticing them to pay $50-$90 for a copy of a Video they would rent 50 times for $2 or $3 before eventually pawning off in the Previously Viewed bins for another $5-$10.
So when you say “you know, the way things have always been done” you are being, you know, not accurate.
RT If services like XBL and PSN want to compete with digital downloads of retail games, they need to cut prices on games that are YEARS old.
FDI in multibrand retail will curb inflation by paring down the delta between farm gate and retail prices. This will certainly help India. -
