you should have called police and you shouldn't open the door to strangers when you are alone. I'm 20 and I still don't open the door no matter who it is when I'm alone. Even if they have a uniform on I know there are a lot of psychos around. He could have killed you.

I also think that Gerry is right. The guy probably checked to see when the house is empty.

It's normal for an Agency to run a credit check, so maybe this person is R/E ex-industry, a credit check is simple prudence. Is there a bond? Who is holding this? If he wants a credit check, insist that a neutral government agency holds the bond.

In addition, email your bank, car license Agency, and social security and just alert them briefly to this request and your personal concern that it might be for fraud, not what he says. Ask them to acknowledge your email and monitor any unusual and unauthorised transactions.
