If you are like me you have tried at least 100 abdominal exercises only to fail in realizing your goal of a lean stomach. You do more, but with less results. It is like hitting your head against a wall. What if I told you that by doing less you could get more results. This might surprise you. You have to relearn what you thought you knew about exercise and fitness. It is likely that you where taught incorrectly.

Food is Your Friend or Your Foe

Did you know that eating less food could cause your body to store more fat? The problem is not necessarily that we eat too much, although that may be a problem. The main problem is that we eat nutrient-deficient foods that are highly processed. Moreover we do not plan our meals regarding the frequency, portions and combinations. This alone can make a huge difference. Carbs are not always the enemy, but excess beer, wine, spirits, or fruit juice, can make things worse.

Workout

It is very important to build muscles. Specifically, you must put them under tension in order to cause them to burn calories afterward. Muscles take up less space than fat therefore you should not worry about looking bigger (ladies). Strength training can do wonders, if done correctly, to melt away fat. It is also important to do cardio, but not too much. Many think that spending a lot of time on the treadmill is the best thing. Recently, however, there has been an emphasis on interval training at least 3 times per week. Fat burning should be the goal in order to get ripped abs. Food, cardio, and muscle training will accomplish this goal.

Give Your Body A Rest

Yes, you heard that right. More is not always better. In fact, working out too much can cause you to not be as effective in burning fat. In fact, there have been many times when I’ve left on vacation for 2 weeks, only to return 2 weeks later being able to lift even more weight and endure for greater distances. If we tax our adrenal glands too much, then we may cause our hormones to get out of whack, causing more belly fat! Too much stress is not good! Too much exercise may cause this. Our bodies need time to recover. So take your time.

Get enough rest

Lack of sleep will throw a wrench into your efforts. Make sure you get anywhere from 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Your body repairs itself during this time. There are 7 to 9 hours in the day when the say “you snooze you lose” does not apply.

Stop following those frustrating old routines. Learn again. Be teachable. Find out more about how 100 abdominal exercises with proper diet and exercise can help you to reach your goal. What are you waiting for?
