Proper Stance For Long Golf Shots

March 7, 2010 by · 5 Comments

At address, the golfer positions himself in a stance dependent on the length of the shot. The closed, the square and the open stances are being described here. How the golfer’s feet are placed will be described in relation to an imaginary line that runs straight from beyond the golfers back foot and is parallel to the golf ball’s intended trajectory. This will be called the line of flight. In reality of course, the golf ball’s flight is curved to some degree.

For long distance shots, the ball is addressed with what is called the closed stance. This stance has the line of flight and the toe of the leading foot in close proximity, with that of the back foot positioned off the line by a little bit. Making longer golf shots is facilitated by the greater freedom of body movement allowed by the closed stance while enabling the hands and clubhead to more naturally follow an inside-out path.

The square stance is most suitable for medium irons. In this stance a line drawn imagined connecting the tips of the feet would be parallel to the line of flight. The forward foot is positioned somewhat open, splayed out a bit toward where the ball is headed, with the weight bearing about equal on both of the golfer’s feet. Long iron shots and wood shots may at times be executed from this stance.

The open stance and short iron shots go well together. the forward foot is placed an inch or so back away from the line of flight, for a more upright swing that imparts a backspin which is not wanted on long golf shots.

Powerball 250 review

August 14, 2009 by · 5 Comments

If you’d like to take some gentle exercise that can strengthen your wrist and forearm, there are various ways of doing it, which we’ll come to later. And a strong wrist and forearm are very important if you’re into racquet sports, such as tennis, or sports like golf.

You can use a tennis ball and squeeze it – that’s an old standby. But there’s a more modern way too. Using something called the Powerball 250 you can use the power of the gyroscope to create a smooth and effective way to exercise.

Just by starting up a Powerball in your hand and rotating your wrist you exericse the wrist and muscles in your forearm. As well as being effective it’s quite fun, too.

The amount of ‘force’ you experience is a function of the torque produced by the Powerball 250 hz. You can influence the torque by moving your wrist faster or slower and controlling how far you move your wrist – smaller circles producing faster spin.

Powerball 250 hz pro weighs just a little more than a tennis ball, but it’s much more versatile because it produces a non-impact force which can be used for rehabilitation as well as strength improvements.

If you take the rotation up to 15,000 rpm you’ll experience nearly 40 pounds of pressure – imagine being able to put a 40 pound weight in your pocket! With something as small and portable as the Powerball you can truly take your exercise regime with you almost anywhere.

The powerball is not recommended for children under 14 and as with all types of fitness regimes you should seek the advice of your doctor before embarking on such a regime.

Golfing In The USA

July 8, 2009 by · 5 Comments

Golf has been a long time sport of many in the United States. There are many different beautiful golf courses that you can be a part of, and you could spend your life traveling through all of the states and enjoying each and every golf course.

The famous ones, such as the Pebble Beach golf course, allow you to golf alongside some of the best golfers in the world. You might get to see a tournament, and you might get to play a round of golf knowing that there are professionals a couple of holes ahead of you.

The most amazing thing about the sport of golf in this United States is that no matter which state you are in you can golf in a place that is completely different and beautiful. Golfing alongside deer and nature in wooded golf courses in states like Virginia and Vermont gives you a chance to come to grips with nature and to explore the beauty of being alone in the woods with your golf club and your ball. However, golfing near the ocean, in course in Oregon, Florida, or California, as well as any other bordering state, gives you a chance to be in a fresh and amazing environment, where you can look out on great expanses of beauty and commune with the ocean in that way. If neither of these seems like it might interest you, try the golf courses in the Midwest states. Golfing in Wyoming or South Dakota or Iowa gives you chance to look at the beauty of nothingness – areas where you can see for miles and miles and see nothing but flat land. These public golf courses give you wonderful opportunities to see the sunsets on the prairies of our fine country. If mountains are your thing, golfing against these backdrops in Utah or Montana is a great idea because the rugged terrain that you will encounter can be matched like no other in the world.

Those that do not know golf in the United States feel that each golf course is the same. The beauty of this sport lies in the fact that no matter where you go, even if you are performing the same motions, you’ll be surrounded by something completely different each time, and you’ll be allowed to find ways to give yourself the chance to have this beauty with you no matter where you golf in the United States.

Hawaii Vacation Rentals For Every Type Of Budget

May 27, 2009 by · 5 Comments

Each island in Hawaii has a large number of vacation rentals to offer. Hawaii is a group of six islands, each presenting its own attractions and activities. Visiting more than one island should be on your agenda if you’d like to derive full enjoyment from your Hawaiian vacation. One way to organize your vacation would be to use the island of Maui as your base, from which you can visit the neighboring islands. Depending on your needs and budget you can select from the many Maui vacation rentals available.

Maui, the second largest island, has some jaw-droppingly beautiful beaches. Many beachophiles consider Maui’s the best for overall beauty and enjoyability. You’ll find yourself on these clean, gorgeous strips of sand and surf as much as possible. If you glance landward, you’ll see lush, emerald green landscapes beckoning you inward. And don’t forget to breath deep the clean-scrubbed air!

Take a break from the beaches and see the stunning 10,000-foot Haleakala Crater or the Iao Valley’s spectacular scenery. Play golf in a championship course or go on an excursion to spot humpback whales. On other days, you can simply drive along the 53-mile Hana Highway just for the pleasure of it. Of course, the museums, good restaurants and interesting shops are not to be ignored. With all these things to do or see, staying at a Maui rental will make your visit hassle-free so you can relax and enjoy your vacation.

Don’t leave Hawaii and not visit Kauai with its scenic Napali coastline, perfect seashore, and lush vistas. Kauai is the stereotypical “tropical paradise,” where you’ll find more than a magnificent ocean; there is also great natural beauty such as spectacular ravines, and waterfalls. Kauai rentals are plentiful, ranging from cottages to condos. It’s a great place to relax and make the most of your Hawaiian vacation.

Kauai has plenty of activities: You can hike along the Napali coast or take a helicopter ride over the 3000-foot high cliffs. Explore the stunning Waimea Canyon, often described as ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’. The only navigable river in Hawaii, Wailua River offers fishing and kayaking. Go to the many beaches and bays of the northern-most island of Hawaii. In between, play a round of golf or have a picnic in one of the lush tropical gardens.

Of all the many beautiful charms that attract vacationers to Kauai, its huge, white, shining beaches are the greatest. There’s nothing that can beat a gorgeous and intimate house, with a swimming pool facing the beach, for a couple to enjoy a honeymoon. Thousands of couples have already made beautiful memories here — memories which they will hold dear for the rest of their lives.

GreatHawaiiVacationRentals.com presents a large selection of Big Island condo rentals along with oceanfront condo rentals in Molokai, Lanai Maui, Kauai and Oahu.

Marbella Golfing & Rentin-Marbella

April 23, 2009 by · 3 Comments

There’s villas next to the Golf courses, Apartments overlokking the ninth hole!   The quality of golf courses surrounding Marbella on the Costa Del Sol is right up there with the golf courses of the Algarve and many found in Florida too.  Add this to the fact that the range of luxury private accommodation available to rent in the area makes Marbella one of those destinations which truly delivers in terms of price; facilities; sunshine and relaxation.

Unless its an expensive trip booking into something like the Marbella Golf resort and Hotel, a more sensible option is to find a quality tour operator which is used to combining the best of luxury apartment living or Villa vacations in Marbella with day passes to the full range of Golf courses in the area.  I recommend the marbella golfing and holiday firm Rentin-Marbella.com who’s owners spend lots of time trying out the various golfing facilities surrounding Marbella.

The internet booking facility at the website is easy to understand and follow with an excellent search facility which allows you to set any kind of preference to search by that you could want.  They have apartments on the side of the golf courses, as well as beautiful accommodation down at the side of the mediteranean or even up in the hills.

When specifically booking a golfing holiday with Rentin they can also provide you with detailed directions / maps to the golf courses as well as insider tips on what to expect with each golf course, and even where to hunt down the best deals on golfing equipment etc.

Well, here’s to your next golfing holiday! and if you choose Marbella as your resort, then take a look at what Rentin-Marbella has for you.

Golf Swing, Golf Instruction & Game Cheats

April 21, 2009 by · 8 Comments

Golf is definitely a game where an individual’s discipline, determination, and heart can be measured and golf instruction is something that is needed to excel. While others tend to see the game, when watching golf being played, as completely boring, this sport can truly reel you in. You just need to get ahead with your golf swing. While the basics are the same for everyone, the differences in body types and mentalities bring forth a multitude of differences in the game that can cause confusion for most beginners. As such, one must adapt to his/her body in learning how to perform the perfect golf swing.

While the perfect golf swing is there, it is elusive as it is different for every individual. Practice and knowledge are the keys to success in golf, and muscle memory is what you are trying to ingrain into yourself. Once you have the proper golf swing in your system, confidence in your game and calmness of mind shall follow. Some of the basic principles that can be applied for immediate improvement in the golf swing is to keep your head still and eyes on the ball. This is to straighten your spine’s alignment and to aim at the ball properly.

Now while so many love to be outside playing golf we see that there are others who love to play inside and indulge themselves in video games. One of the things that these types of people get specialized in is that of game cheats as we see that there actually seems to be an obsession with being an expert in this form of gaming. Whatever you choose to do for your recreation needs, we all know that using this for peace of mind is something that will continue to be a source of help for us all.

Golf Carts

April 20, 2009 by · 6 Comments

Golfers out for a pleasant game on a Sunday afternoon take them for granted on the golf course. They’re just utilitarian, aren’t they? I refer to golf carts, those funny looking little vehicles you find on most golf courses. But did you know that golf cart production is a multi-million dollar industry and there are many different systems? Golf carts are manufactured like miniature cars and there are financing options just like the huge car corporations have. And they have all the golf cart accessories too, like getting a car fully loaded.

Golf originates from a that was first played on the coast of Scotland way back sometime around the 15th century. Golfers would hit a pebble around the sand dunes instead of a ball. They’d use a stick or wide club. Eventually stones were exchanged for man-made balls, which in the early days were thin leather bags stuffed with feathers!

The gutta-percha ball was invented around 1848 and might be hit as far as 225 yards. In 1899 rubber balls were invented that could reach distances as great as 430 yards – but only if hit by a professional. Golf sticks then evolved into carefully crafted and weighted golf clubs. From there, in the 1880′s, golf club bags became popular.

The caddie was a servant who carted all the player’s gear aound the golf course and in the early 1950′s the introduction of the electric golf carts eased his burden.

The first golf cart manufacturers were E-Z-Go, Pargo, Harley Davidson and Cushman and the cost was amazing – back then they could cost $1200. Of course competition eventually brought the price down and these days there is a wide range of golf carts at every price level.

What You Know About Gof Development

April 17, 2009 by · 3 Comments

The origin of golf is hard to place exactly. Several countries are claiming that they started the now popular game, but the most believed is the Netherlands. According to history, the Netherlands had the ideas of hitting balls into holes with a golf club in the 17th century. In addition to this, it is said that the word golf comes from the Dutch was kolf which means stick, club and bat. It does NOT come from the acronym “gentlemen only, ladies forbidden.” Despite this early introduction of golf, it did not come around in the United States until the 1880s.

The oldest course in the world dates back to St. Andrews Trails, located in the Royal Burgh of St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. This course is known as the “home of golf”.

Even though it is commonly known that golf courses have eighteen holes, according to history, this has not always been so. Golfers at St. Andrews played on a route that was determined by the topography of the area. An eleven-hole golf course came about and players would play all eleven, turn around and play them again – twenty-two holes. Some thought that the holes were to short in 1764, so were combined with other holes. The number was reduced from eleven to nine, leaving a total of eighteen holes.

The size of the golf hole even goes back in history. The standard golf hole size is 4.25 inches in diameter. It was the St. Andrews Trails that were the founders of this standard size, with some assistance from the links at Musselburgh. This size was decided upon because the folks at Musselburgh had invented the first known hole cutter in 1829. This cutter utilized a tool that was 4.25 inches in diameter. St. Andrews simply liked that size and adopted it for the games standard hole size.

The common used phrases in the game of golf are birdie, eagle and par. The word bird was a slang term in the 19th century that referred to anything considered remotely cool. So the term was used then for a great shot in a game of golf – one that led to a score under par – and was eventually turned into birdie. The word eagle followed along those lines in keeping with the bird mentality. Par was used long before it became associated with the game of golf and basically meant something that was acceptable or average. The word simply became associated over time with the game of golf to indicate an ideal score among golfers.

Where did these rules come from? Well, you honestly cannot play a game, any game, without rules. So from the very beginning there had to have been understood rules to play along with. No one knows what those rules were as the rules were never officially written until they were specifically written in 1744 for the Annual Challenge for the Edinburgh Silver Club.

Golf didn’t just come around yesterday. It has a history. And to fully enjoy and understand the game, you need to know where it came from. Learn a little!
